Without a Paddle
I just saw one of the funniest “travel related” movies I’ve ever seen. “Without a Paddle” is a story of 3 guys who set out on a childhood dream to find a “lost treasure”. With their Indiana Jones compass and satellite cell phone they enter the expanse of wilderness up in the Washington/Oregon area to experience every unfortunate incident they could come across. What makes it so funny is how much I can relate to those back woods adventures.
As I was watching, I couldn’t help but think of my best friends who, since college, have made the effort to meet up at least annually for the “Guys Camping Trip”. Whether we’re jumping off waterfalls, swimming the rapids, spelunking with no flashlights or throwing each other into ponds, we never hesitate to leave with amazing memories and pictures that I guarantee will never make this website.
Regardless of how many times we’ve almost been arrested or almost killed ourselves, this movie brought back that feeling of adventure that is so addictive. It also makes me long for this upcoming trip to Alaska, a chance to once again venture into the woods to hike, kayak, and sleep in the great outdoors. These are the things life is made of.
