Restaurant: Ray's Dining

Our first dinner in Alaska and our roaring appetites directed us to Ray's. Neighboring Resurrection Bay's harbour, Ray's is Seward's classiest dining establishment -- but one must adjust the scale for this small town. There are no Michelin stars to be handed out here. The kitchen is open seasonally through October to take advantage of the tourists that flock to the Kenai during the summer months. Ray's menu is not large, so we jumped on the specials running that day. We enjoyed pan-seared wild salmon in an alfredo sauce and a teriyaki-bake halibut. The fish was delicate and the sauce a great complement. Like all things Alaskan, Ray's is pricey, from $25-$45 per person depending your appetite and stomach size. But given the meager selection of restaurants in Seward, we didn't complain too loudly.
