On to Cape Cod

Ned's Point Lighthouse

Mass was at its best for me. Flowers blooming, sunny skies, warm weather... couldn't have been better! I was able to grab some great lobster, visit the New Bedford Whaling Museum, dip my hand in the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy my friends.

The trip over finished well. Even though the flight was understaffed, it went off without a hitch -- the flight attendants (FAs) were superb and had their jobs down like clockwork. Passing trays to eachother up and over, juggling menu orders, drinks, nuts and the whole nine yards. Experience in action!

Since it was a dinner flight, we had our choice of two entrees in first: pecan-crusted mahi-mahi or ricotta and spinach-stuffed chicken breast. In deference to my airline status, the FA came around to me first to take the order. Since both choices sounded delicious, either would suit me fine, I told her. (Since airlines typically only load a limited number of certain meals, this can allow someone else to get their first choice.) In the end, chicken breast it was to be, complemented by a parmesan cream sauce, pan-seared potato cakes and a vegetable medley. I settled back in my chair, sipped on my Guenoc Chardonnay and enjoyed the film (some B-class Meg Ryan movie about a woman breaking into the boxing industry... yawn). My last pleasure of the day: chocolate and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate fudge! What a treat -- eating ice cream at 39,000 feet!!

I didn't arrive into Boston until well after midnight. Instead of driving those long hours down towards Cape Cod, I had opted for an airport hotel. By 1AM, I was dozing off in room 346, hoping that my 8AM alarm would take a long time in coming.
